JOOUST VLIR-IUC Programme conducted a two- day workshop at Ciala Resort, Kisumu, from 29th to 30th November 2021 bringing Team Leaders and members to receive update of Programme activities, review data collection tools for gender analysis and stakeholder engagement.
While speaking at the onset of the workshop, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Agong’ encouraged members to commit themselves to the project since its success will benefit them directly as individuals and the University as a whole.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof. Joseph Bosire, who opened the workshop on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, acknowledged the project as an opportunity for the university to showcase her prowess in research for community development and will be able to improve the livelihood of the local community through visionary research activities. Prof. Bosire also noted that the project will improve networking activities hence improving the institution’s visibility.
Prof. Benson Estambale, the Deputy Vice- Chancellor Research, Innovation and Outreach who is the project’s Local Coordinator informed members that the project is a inter-university corporation involving both JOOUST and other universities in Belgium. He told members that he capacity building of the project would benefit individuals more than the institution.
JOOUST through the VLIR–IUC Project will strengthen capacity in Natural Resource management, Food Security and Health for the local community.
